The posts for my walk gate were set too close, or moved over the years, so the gate was too close to the post for the U-latch. I rotated the latch, etc. but was never happy with it. Then remembered seeing these as a kid. Found one here and it works like a charm with the 2 3/8" POST KEEPER. Now my gate is in line with the fence, and the latch works great. Not sure it would withstand a large dog jumping against it, but for a walking gate, it's perfect.
